From the expert opinion of PhDr. Anna Janištinová: "An important Ukrainian painter with a relationship to the Czech or Czechoslovak environment is almost unknown to the general public today. She came to Prague with her parents in the wave of post-revolutionary emigration in 1922 and later worked as a painter and set designer in Prague, Brno and Bratislava. The collection of her drawings, watercolors and designs from her stay in Prague is located in the collection of the Slavonic Library in Klementinum in Prague. It ended after World War II, when she moved to Canada. She then lived and worked there until her death. The dating and localization of the offered painting dates back to the period of her studies in Florence. The painting captures well the early evening atmosphere of a small Italian town, the reduction of forms and the economical color correspond to the period civilism, while the treatment of the tree on the right shows a connection with the art-deco styling."
