František Kyncl was a Czech painter and sculptor, one of the most important Czech constructivists of the second half of the 20th century. He was enchanted by the infinite possibilities of geometric perception of the world. He did not perceive his works as finite and bounded, but rather as the centre of his own expansion in space. In 1968 he was forced to emigrate to Germany and settled in Düsseldorf, where he studied at the Academy of Arts. He was one of the important German artists of the so-called Düsseldorf Circle and was in contact with the Czech emigration, sending them catalogues of Western art when he could. He called his monostructures a range of works in various combinations of techniques, created works spontaneously and often left their expression to the last moment.
