The image of the summer landscape embedded in the landscape full of green is a representative work of Alois Kalvoda, a student of Mařák's landscape special. In a vertical composition, the artist lets the trees on the banks of a river or stream clearly stand out, using the contrast of dark trunks, reflections on the water surface and bright vegetation greenery. After studying at the Academy of Fine Arts, Kalvoda also studied in Paris and Munich. He gradually deviated from Mařák's school of painting melancholic landscapes and aimed at a more decorative conception of the landscape in color and motif. He painted simple motifs of the Czech region, meadows, hillsides, birches, views of the region among the trunks of trees standing in the foreground or in the background of the hillside.
