An old, flat and linearly colored copperplate map depicts the American mainland, including its fictitious overvalued northwestern part. The eastern edge of the leaf still captures the southwestern part of Europe and the coast of West Africa. The title at the bottom left in an extensive cartouche with a view of the landscape, a depiction of a local animal and a frame of figures of two natives. At the top left, another cartouche with a text about the discovery of the continent by the Spaniards and the Portuguese, with an allegory of the Catholicization of the inhabitants. The map bears spots of moisture along the edges and along the folded sheet.
