From the expert assessment by PhDr. Rea Michalová PhD: "Artwork Two girls is original and unconditionally typical and classy work by Josef Šíma, author who is one of the greatest personalities of European art of the 20th century. Although he settled in France in this thirties for the rest of his life, he never lost contact with Czech environment. His works and his life merge Czech and French cultural scene. Josef Šíma's artworks are expressions of contemplation and spiritual depth, they capture interlacing and blending of sensual experiences and reflect bottom layers of human psyche. Assessed artwork "Two Girls" sophisticated with its simplicity and a hunch of a secret, captures the fragile feminine glamour and dreamy faces with just a few gentle strokes. The efficiency of this subtle line, partially strengthened in cleavage or accumulated into hair curls, completes and balances delicate coloristic touch with almost transparent watercolour.
