The themes of the mannequin, circus and variety show are an important and numerous part of the artist's distinctive work, which easily seeps into the artist's significant graphics offered here. Tichý was originally going to take a job in São Paulo, Brazil. In Marseille, France, he was only to board a ship bound for South America, but fate changed his plans. In November 1930 he arrived in Paris, where he remained until 1935. Then the changing political situation in Europe and his first artistic successes in Prague forced him to return. From 1945 to 1954 he was a professor at the Academy of Arts and Crafts in Prague, where he taught drawing and graphic arts. In 1946 he was elected a member of the Czech Academy of Sciences and Arts. Dedication to the architect J. Šust. The original drawing for the graphic art is in the collections of the Moravian Gallery in Brno.
