Holíčská soup bowl with lid is richly painted with flowers on white glaze. The production of the Holíč manufactory did not have its own typical designs, but was based on the designs of important factories in Europe - mainly Italian, French and German designs. The peculiarity of the Holíč faience, however, is due to the way it was processed and how these patterns were adopted in Holíč - at first they produced for the Viennese court, later they created rococo porcelain and stoneware. It was founded by the husband of Empress Maria Theresa, František Štepán Lotrinský (1708-1765). From the very beginning, the manufactory used local resources, but experts from the Habanese circle, French ceramic masters and artists from Tuscany were involved in production. Holíč ceramics demonstrate the advanced level of folk art and manufactory production of the time.
