The artistic career of Georg Macco, a German painter, began in 1887 at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, where he studied with Eugen Dücker and Johann Peter Theodor Janssen until 1887. He later moved to Munich to continue his studies and use the city as a base for his numerous journeys, from the mountainous areas from Italy to Svalbard. He later traveled throughout the Mediterranean and visited exotic places such as Istanbul, Baalbek, Jerusalem, Cairo and around Mecca. The works he created as a result of these journeys eventually became his most popular and sought after.
