Helena Johnová belonged to a significant generation of modernist artists of the First Republic and her work with a special artistic expression belongs to the pivotal stage of Czech ceramics. She began her artistic career in Vienna in Michael Powolny's studio at the local Kunstgewerbeschule, was one of the founding members of the Prague Artel and, through her own teaching activities at the School of Applied Arts in Prague, made a significant contribution to the professionalization of ceramics in our country. Today, she owns the largest collection of her works, the Museum of Applied Arts in Prague and the Moravian Gallery in Brno, and she rarely appears on the market. She contributed significantly to the emancipation of women artists in Czechoslovak society. The large variegated glazed ceramic bouquet on offer is characterized by both the color and the typical work of Helena Johnová. Consulted with dr. Jiří Hořava.
