30. 07. 2019Arthouse Hejtmánek is one of few auction houses in the Czech Republic that is not solely focused on the usual range of art offered at auction, primarily paintings. Instead, the auction house also always offers valuable arts & crafts and design objects. Its turnover ranks it among the five largest auction houses in the country, and its importance is growing at the European and international levels. A number of auction records have been broken at Arthouse Hejtmánek: the current highest price was realized for Mikuláš Medek’s painting Action I (Egg), which was auctioned in June for a record CZK 57 million. Two years ago, Oskar Kokoschka’s large-format painting Prague set a new record, fetching more than CZK 52 million. Arthouse Hejtmánek, managed by the husband and wife team of Tomáš and Marie Hejtmánek, also operates as a private exhibition gallery.
