Vincenc Morstadt (1802 - 1875) (attributed) A VIEW OF PRAGUE FROM PETŘÍN

Impressive colour veduta of Prague in style corresponding to the works of the famous Czech painter and draughtsman Vincenz Morstadt, who became famous mainly as a landscape and vedutist and author of many graphic sheets and albums. He came out of the tradition of the empirical drawing-based urban veduta, whose main features are factuality, descriptiveness, unpretentiousness and fidelity of record, and in which he reached the peak of skill and popularity with publishers and buyers. There was scarcely an album in which his name did not appear. Signed by the engraver A. Winkler.
