Radek Pilař (1931 - 1993) BENCHES

Radek Pilař is mainly known as an illustrator of children's books and a designer of TV series. He won over the children's audience with his fairy tales about Rumcajs the Bandit and the character of Večerníček. However, Radek Pilař, apart from his illustrations, has also worked as a freelance artist. He became a pioneer of video art in our country, creating assemblages, experimenting, reacting to pop art, and although he did not take part in official exhibitions during the previous regime, he created multi-layered work in his studio that did not fit in with the playfulness of the concepts of the time.
