Wachsman was a personality of versatile abilities - an architect, a stage designer, a painter. The very focus of his work lies in his painting. He was gifted with extraordinary invention and creative imagination. Wachsman came from a cultivated family background. Kinship ties him to the Pinkas and Voskovec family and to the writer Arnošt Procházka, the founder of the Modern Revue. V. Nezval quite rightly noticed that Wachsman's compositions are reminiscent of 'painted sculptures', ie some kind of abstracted figural skeletons, and Wachsman also abstracted objects in the form of a simplifying character, as in the case of A Bugle.
