F. Engelmüller, the student of prof. J. Mařák at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, after graduating he was among the founders of Mánes in 1896, but after two years he left the association and joined the Union of Fine Artists. From 1906 to 1908 he made many trips abroad, for example to Russia, Germany, Switzerland, Holland and Italy. The landscape with mature cypress trees certainly belongs among its dreamy moody landscapes, melancholic views of the old parks, especially in the autumn evening time, overgrown and abandoned monastery gardens. Impressive landscape perspective and cultivated colors show the mood of a summer day in a lonely park at the foot of the rocks.
