Miloš Jiránek occupies an important place in the evolution of Czech modern painting. The civil realistic concept of the road in front of the house offers a new view of landscaping and seeks themes in the urban environment. Although his life was short, he managed to help establish the Mánes Union of Fine Artists, start the art journal Volné směry, and organize the important Rodin (1902) and Munch (1905) exhibitions in Prague. He studied at the Academy under Maximilián Pirner and Vojtěch Hynais; his numerous travels, especially to France, were an important part of his learning.
