Three books in two volumes. Folio. Worn period parchment binding comprising faded illuminated manuscript dating from around 1500 and raised bands. The author was a legendary Italian lawyer and a leading authority on Medieval Roman law; sometimes he was also nicknamed “the beacon of the law”. The work is decorated with three two-color woodcut title pages, hundreds of woodcut initials, and interesting typographic design (composition into two-column layout, marginals). A good example of a Renaissance-era paleotype from a rare French printing house.
