According to the expert opinion prepared by Jana Orlíková, “The drawing gives the impression that it was made in preparation for decorating a building. In the United States Mucha only rarely created theater decorations, but in 1908 he accepted a large commission to decorate the newly build German theater. The drawing bears the characteristic attributes of Mucha's sketches; his use of white paint for refined vibrancy is typical.”
