This High Baroque work by an Austrian painter, portraying the half-figure of St. Peter, is an example of superb chiaroscuro painting. Halbax was able to study the Italian masters directly in Venice, and their influence is more than evident. During his time in Bohemia, particularly in 1700–1709, he strongly influenced Czech Baroque painting. Oil on canvas, signed "Halbax" on bottom right.
