Ferdiš Kostka (1878 - 1951) SAINT WENCESLAUS

The figure of St. Wenceslas in glazed ceramics is the work of Ferdiš Kostka, an important folk potter and figurative ceramist, whose work and technique followed the famous Haban ceramics. Just as his brother Ján preferred scenes from contemporary Stupava life, Ferdiš also focused on the people and life of his native village. He and his sister Maria designed group series of several figures depicting the work and play of the people. Excellent condition.
