In 1959, Preclík introduced himself to the public and gained attention with his first solo exhibition at Theatre D 34. There he exhibited a set of sculptures (aptly titled Czech Avant-Garde). It also included sculptural portraits paying tribute to personalities of pre-war culture. In these, Preclík responded primarily to Cubism, albeit in a somewhat shifted perspective. In the 1960s Preclík entered the artistic consciousness with his wooden sculptures. In them he combined the old tradition of carving with the new tendencies of sculpture of the time.
