Josef Navrátil (1798 - 1865) SAILING BOAT ON AN ALPINE LAKE

From the opinion of PhDr. Nadězda Blažíčková-Horová: "The sailboat on the alpine lake under the high mountains on the horizon is an undeniably beautiful work by the painter Josef Navrátil. Navrátil painted many similar works, all of which are characterised by their multi-plan spatial design and impressive colouring. Navrátil searched for and found his subjects both on graphic models and on his frequent travels. Navrátil practically did not date his works, so it is difficult to compile a developmental series. However, he created his Alpine scenes and views of lake landscapes with sailing ships most often in the 1940s, and in a distinctive way he continued the decorative and colourist tradition of the 18th century as represented by Norbert Grund." Framed under anti-reflective glass with UV filter.
