Reynek's conception of the New Testament is completely dominated by the story of the betrayal and martyrdom of Christ, on which he created countless variations. Passion of Jesus is his most frequently worked theme. Bohuslav Reynek was a Czech graphic artist, poet and translator, whose graphic sheets can be perceived as a visual transcription of poetic language. In the 1930s, he gradually moved away from charcoal and pastel drawing and began using drypoint and etching techniques.
