Bedřich Havránek (1821 - 1899) QUARRY

Bedřich Havránek was a master in depicting natural elements - trees, stones and rocks. He often edited the landscape in his studio into an ideal form. He was attracted by the details in the landscape, which he elaborated down to a detailed form with a touch of lyrical charm, for which he was already admired in his own time. In the corner is the inscription "Ausig", so it could be a quarry near Ústí nad Labem.
