Milada Marešová (1901 - 1987) GIRL WITH DANDELIONS

A girl in the middle of a dark forest collects blooming dandelions. Dressed in glowing dandelion yellow, young and smiling, she creates an impressive and emphatic counterpoint to the forest sinking into darkness and sleep. Yellow's similarity to sunlit skies and summer flowers that beckon life all around cannot be overlooked, and yellow is often an important symbol in visual arts. Some painters have even adopted sun yellow as manuscript. The girl with the dandelions represents a symbol - she is the last bright dandelion in the middle of a faded meadow and becomes a reminder of life in a cooling world.
