Tavík František Šimon (1877 - 1942) A VIEW OF WINTER PRAGUE

Tavík František Šimon was one of the best Czech graphic artists and was also an excellent landscape painter. He created a large number of views of Prague and was at the birth of the Hollar Association of Czech Graphic Artists. The view of Prague from the Old Castle Stairs towards the Church of St. Nicholas is undoubtedly a captivating and poetic subject, which the author worked with great care and sense of color, capturing the fleeting early evening moment of the city bathed in golden sunlight under a blanket of snow.
