František Drtikol (1883 - 1961) LANDSCAPE WITH A FIELD

He definitively stopped being a photographer, according to himself, and returned to his love - painting, in 1935, when he sold his photography studio. His painting work dealt with themes of landscapes, symbolic compositions, based on photographs of nudes and still lifes with floral motifs, and in some cases reached the point of abstraction. Drtikol's landscapes show a special sense of poetics and harmony, decorativeness, movement and at the same time quiet calm.
