František Šimon Tavík was one of Max Pirner's students and was one of the most important graphic artists, painters, woodcutters and later taught at the Academy of Fine Arts. He was a member of SVU Mánes and a co-founder of the Hollar Association. He traveled extensively - in the years 1926 - 1927 he even traveled around the world. The presented work The Greek Temple belongs to his thematic work inspired by journeys in a relatively generous format. It depicts one of the important ancient monuments of ancient Greece, it can also be the temple of the Acropolis.
