The provenance of this regulator wall clock is an important Czech noble family. The elegant mahogany Biedermeier clock case is dominated by clockwork with a single wheel and anchor escapement, silver-plated dial with Roman numerals, bronze fire-gilded decorative line, and steel hands. Two garnets are set into the double roller; three glass pendulum rods are filled with mercury on a suspension spring, duration: one day. Marked on plate in center “J. Hejnal”, a watchmaker and jeweler who repaired the astronomical clock on Prague’s St. Vitus Cathedral and the carillon at Loreta. An almost identical clockwork with the monogram “Q” can be found in the literature; see Viennese Timepieces, Frederick Kaltenböck, 1993.
