Rarely appearing on the market and one of the last wood carvings by Hans Baldung Grien, this print is a mysterious Renaissance work as many debates surround its meaning and whether it presents a story or an allegory. The intentionally unusual perspective evokes a sense of disquiet, and the viewer themselves is uncertain if the knight lying on the ground is bewitched or dead.
