AN ITALIAN ROCOCO COMMODE

An Italian inlaid walnut commode. The concave sides underline its elegance while contrasting with the convex front, which comprises two drawers that are separated by a crossbar and feature bronze gilt Rococo mounts depicting the mythical Phoenix. The surface of the commode including the top, which is visually removed by a metal line, is decorated with filigree tendril ornamentation and ivory inlaid flowers and fantastical animal heads.
