This miniature still life comes from a relatively quiet period in Hirschely’s career, when he did not use luxurious objects and expensive Mannerist vases for his still-life compositions, but rather arranged living flowers into simple glass flasks so that their natural beauty could shine through. In this case, the color range is dominated by roses, accented by blue bindweed, orange marigold, white carnation and poppy.
