AN EMPIRE CHANDELIER

An elegant eight-arm suspended chandelier. Individual arms richly decorated with narrow acanthine leaves and rosettes, watched over by four nymphs and topped with a festoon with fruit. Carved gilt and polychrome wood; electrical wiring.

The chandelier was produced in the famous workshop of Joseph Ulrich Danhauser, whose family tradition helped place his timeless models at the forefront of European design. See MAK Vienna archives, KI 8971-1657, “Luster N° 11”
