Vingler was a sculptor who throughout his life remained outside of any art movements and, despite his significant insight and knowledge about art from all periods, kept a certain distance from art trends. He held his last solo exhibition at Prague's Old Town Hall in 1981, and his work is strongly represented in the Prague City Gallery's sculpture and drawing collection. The Gallery held a large exhibition of his work at Troja Chateau in Prague in 2014, showing an impressive selection of works dating from the mid-1940s up to the final days of his life in 1981. The artist, who spent his life enthusiastically studying animal subjects, shifted the focus of his work to more existential subjects in the 1970s. In his series Corrida and Cirkus, he focused on portraying human figures. This sculpture, the emotionally charged Reclining Toreador, was also represented at the exhibition.
