Artist Marian Karel is characterized by his massive stereometric glass sculptures, whether integrated into architectural designs or as free-standing sculptures. Here his glass object is comprised of blocks of ground fused or optical glass. A student of Stanislav Libenský, since 1992 he has led a studio focused on the use of glass in architecture at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague. He has designed the sculptural roof covering at Museum Kampa in Prague, metal and glass spatial installations for the Czechoslovak pavilion at Expo 92 in v Seville, and the stained glass panels in the main hall of ČSOB bank in Teplice. His exceptional oeuvre is represented in private and public collections in the Czech Republic and around the world.
