An opulent gilded chandelier with unique zoomorphic decorations. On both rows of the six-arm chandelier are carved locusts, apparently a motif inspired by the Old Testament – the Eighth of the Ten Plagues of Egypt, the proliferation of locusts and destruction of vegetation (Ex 10, 21–20). Period designs with comparable motifs come from the Vienna-based designer Dagobert Pech for Wiener Werkstätte.
