Karel Špillar studied mainly Chodsko, observed and painted. He looked for models for his paintings at every opportunity. He met with the common people at music in pubs, at festivals, on holidays, in the fields, in the pastures, and on his wanderings he learned to understand the people, to know their soul and to love them.
