August Bedřich Piepenhagen was a German landscape painter who lived and worked in Prague. He came from humble circumstances and was self-taught. The specifics of his business offer, testifying to his entrepreneurship, were small painting studies, assembled on panels (sheets with a number from four to five to fifteen to twenty, dimensions from three to twenty centimeters), which he presented to his customers.
