Bedřich Vaníček studied painting in Paris, and his delicate work stayed away from contemporary trends. From 1933 he was a member of the Art Department of the Art Meeting. During the occupation he took part in the resistance in Vladislav Vančura's group. He translated from French and also wrote a number of essays. The work bears exhibition labels from the 1947 Manchester exhibition of Czechoslovak Modern Art, the 1933 - 1934 exhibition of Umělecká Beseda: Paintings and Sculptures, and the 1956 also U.B. exhibition.
