This very rare piece of furniture is based on a handwritten stylization of ornaments designed by Bohumil Waigant, one of the leading architects and designers, who together with Josef Gočár was one of the most important pupils of Jan Kotěra. His decorative style is located on the borderline between the exuberant French and Kotěra's Czech Art Nouveau. It is worth mentioning the architect's realizations in Hradec Králové (Card House, Juliš House and Tesar's Villa) or the facades of many houses in Prague's Vinohrady district. He collaborated on his projects with his brother Antonín Waigant, whereupon both brothers were allowed to design houses with complete interior furnishings down to the smallest detail. Very good condition.
