Jaroslav Král (1883 - 1942) WOMAN WITH A PANNIER

Jaroslav Král became especially famous for his female nudes and leaning towards lyrical cubism. The portrait of a woman corresponds with its reduced color and sensitivity to the female theme to some earlier portraits. The silhouette is geometric and the colors are balanced by warm tones in the foreground, which add depth to the image. Unfortunately, Jaroslav Král's artistic talent ended prematurely when he was taken away by the Gestapo and died in Auschwitz.
