Adolf Kašpar (1877 - 1934) SHIPS IN THE PORT

Adolf Kašpar created more than three thousand book illustrations, many drawings for folk calendars and magazines, dozens of designs for book covers, postcards, posters and diplomas. He got to know the real world, studied the environment, local residents and their clothes and daily necessities. Watercolors predominate in his free painting work, of which several hundred have survived. He mostly painted them in nature, which was, together with the landscape, his main source of inspiration. They were created on walks and trips in the vicinity of Loštice, Rusava, or initially also on trips through Slovakia, Italy, Austria or Dalmatia.
