The medium of wood was not chosen randomly for either the sculptures or the prints. František Bílek perceived trees as a mirror of life, in which it is possible to see the diversity of divine truth. František Bílek's mystical visions were profound and in his eyes quite real. He encountered God in dreams and experienced God in his heart during the day. Through these visions he projected the divine presence into his works.
