Preisler was one of the founders of Czech modern art. Mainly influenced by impressionism and Art Nouveau symbolism, he created his own unique style with exceptional symbolic elements. Typical themes in his art were modern man's feelings, dispossession, the desire to become one with nature, nostalgia and expectations, and he portrayed poetic metaphors of life at the time.
