Michal Ranný studied in the years 1961-1965 at SUPŠ in Brno with prof. Jiří Coufal, continued at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague under Prof. František Jiroudek and Jiří John. The minimalist study of the sea belongs to a large thematic group inspired by visits to France and Italy.
