St. Florian is considered the patron saint of professions related to fire - firefighters, metallurgists, bakers, etc. He is usually depicted in the clothes of a Roman officer with a fire extinguisher, or directly extinguishing a fire. His cult was also widely spread in the Czech lands, and his statues or pictures were exhibited to protect against fire.
