J. Uprka was one of the strongest and most original personalities of Czech fine art from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. A painter and graphic artist with a special artistic expression, he studied with prof. F. Čermák at the Prague Academy. Moravian Slovácko with its color and customs became his main source of inspiration.
