Václav Březina is one of the most important pupils of Julius Mařák, whom he met while studying in Vienna with Professor Kautský. In 1887, when Mařák began teaching landscape painting at the Prague Academy, Březina also joined him and studied there until 1892. A strong influence on the professor's model is evident both in the choice of topics and in the manuscript. Romantic forest still lifes, views of rivers, heaths and meadows are frequent, which change depending on the season and the incident light.
