Ludwig Munthe (1841 - 1896) A SNOWY VILLAGE

A painting by the successor or imitator Ludwig Munthe, who was born in Norway in the Sogn og Fjordane region and studied painting at the Kunstakademie in Düsseldorf, Germany. He could almost certainly call himself a master painter of winter. His virtuoso landscaping has produced many beautiful scenes of the city and the countryside, the coast and the ports. He liked to contrast the white snow and the early evening sky, or the red tones of the sunset.
