William Gedney Bunce was an American painter who lived in Europe for 12 years. He created a number of Venetian marinas, which are particularly impressive for their ethereal and aerial quality, the paint work is virtuosically delicate. He focused on the poetry of a place and its atmosphere rather than on the abundance of detail.
