A remarkable fabric, hand woven and knotted from wool on a wool warp, with pink natural silk in magenta (this is a natural colour, derived from insects, called cochineal). This beautiful collectible fabric with 16 göls (goulas) is a so-called chuval, primarily the side part of a transport and storage bag/bag. Only natural colours, authentic handmade, typical of the Saryk group in southern Turkmenistan. These textiles may also have been used in ceremonial processions on the sides of wedding camels, for seating in or outside the yurt, and thus may have naturally had multiple functions. The design is strictly geometric in the Turkmen spirit. A wonderful collector's piece that is a pure testament to its time, professionally cleaned on both sides.
